Lead Patient Care While Staying Hands-On in a Fast-Paced Hospital
Hillside Veterinary Clinic, a proud Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician - Shift Lead to support hospital flow, guide the technical team, and deliver exceptional patient and client care. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a strong emergency-capable technician who enjoys mentoring others while remaining actively involved in patient care.

What You’ll Do
As a Veterinary Technician - Shift Lead, you’ll balance advanced clinical care with shift-level leadership by:
- Overseeing hospital flow during assigned shifts to ensure excellent patient care and client service
- Supporting veterinarians by executing treatment plans and medical orders
- Delegating tasks to treatment and surgery technicians to maintain efficiency and patient safety
- Assisting with exams, treatments, procedures, and surgeries in accordance with state regulations
- Monitoring patients, administering medications, and providing advanced nursing care
- Admitting and discharging patients, creating treatment plans, and reviewing home-care instructions with clients
- Addressing client questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy
- Assisting with onboarding, training, and skill development of team members
- Supporting accurate medical records, charges, and documentation
- Maintaining clean, organized, and sterile treatment, exam, and lab areas
- Serving as a clinical resource and role model for the technical team
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience & Skills
- Emergency veterinary technician experience required
- LVT/RVT/CVT strongly preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience (formal or informal)
- Strong anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work varied shifts, including occasional overtime or on-call coverage
