Under the direction of the President & CEO, the Director of Education is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a year-round portfolio of high-quality education and professional development programs that meet established timelines, achieve budgeted goals, and remain relevant to the evolving needs of CAHSAH members.
This position provides strategic and operational leadership for all education initiatives, including workshops, webinars, certificate programs, publications and bookstore resources, certification exams and renewals, and the Annual Conference and Expo. The Director of Education serves as the primary staff liaison to the Education and Conference Planning Committee, working closely with volunteer leaders to design, deliver, and continuously refine CAHSAH’s education offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Education Strategy, Planning & Budget Management
Develop and manage the annual education budget aligned with organizational goals
Ensure programs meet financial targets while maintaining quality and relevance
Monitor performance, timelines, and resources throughout the year
Program Development & Delivery
Design education topics, formats, schedules, budgets, and speaker lineups for workshops, webinars, and other programs in collaboration with volunteer leadership
Oversee execution of the annual education calendar and continuous program improvement
Annual Conference & Expo
Lead planning and delivery of the Annual Conference & Expo
Oversee site selection, hotel and vendor negotiations, contracts, agendas, and speaker programming
Ensure a high-quality experience for attendees, exhibitors, and speakers
Certification, Credentialing & Professional Development
Oversee Home Care & Hospice Professional Certificate Programs and related exams
Manage relationships with credentialing partners and vendors to ensure program integrity
Education Resources & Marketing
Oversee the marketing of education programs and resources to achieve budgeted participation and revenue goals
Seek opportunities to expand CAHSAH’s education resource catalog through new content development, strategic partnerships, and vendor relationships
Collaborate with communications and membership staff to promote education offerings effectively
Maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, committee members, general membership, speakers, exhibitors, vendors, and industry partners
Serve as a visible and responsive representative of CAHSAH’s education programs
Promote effective professional relationships through strong communication, reliability, and collaboration across the organization
Requirements
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Proven project and program management skills from planning through execution
Financial and operational discipline in managing education budgets, timelines, vendors, and revenue
Effective negotiation skills with venues, vendors, speakers, and partners
Strategic thinking with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable education initiatives
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience in education, professional development, conference planning, or program management within a nonprofit association, or healthcare-related organization
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, timelines, and revenue-generating programs
Proven ability to lead staff, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver results on deadline
Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
