Description

Status: Full Time

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing DNP Nurse Anesthesia program is a newly re-established program, having matriculated its inaugural cohort in May 2020 and is growing.  The program is housed with other advanced practice specialty degree tracks in the DNP Program, which in the 2022 edition of US News and World Report Best Graduate School rankings voted Johns Hopkins School of Nursing the #1 Nursing School and #1 DNP Program.  The 36-month program currently admits 25 well-qualified students annually with a total enrollment of 75 full-time students, whose degree objective is the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. 

We are seeking candidates for a Full-Time Ranked Faculty position who are interested in being a part of this dynamic program and can help us drive and fulfill the mission and vision of our great school.  Candidates must have the qualities of a basic science content expert and abilities to teach graduate-level sciences.  Under the supervision of the Director of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track, this faculty member will be responsible for:

Teaching / Learning

  • Curriculum development and implementation including developing course content, learning activities, and assessment modalities of graduate student learning outcomes for Advanced Physiology and Advanced Pathophysiology for Nurse Anesthesiology.
  • Course coordination
  • Course teaching
  • May be asked to review basic science content in anesthesia-related courses as needed, as students progress through the plan of study
  • Didactic instruction in on-campus and online environments

Student Recruitment and Retention

  • Participation in the student admissions process
  • Participation in recruitment, orientation, graduation, and other special events hosted by the SON
  • Meeting with students as needed to address issues, concerns, or tutoring

Other Responsibilities

  • Participation in School of Nursing and University events as appropriate, including fundraising events
  • Assisting with soliciting grants for the program
  • Maintaining knowledge and skills in the area of expertise
  • Creating an area of research and publishing and/or presenting in this area annually
  • Bringing resources into the School of Nursing (i.e., training grants, new students, new faculty lecturers, new faculty)


Requirements

  • This is a full-time, twelve-month, on-campus position.  Faculty appointment for this position will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank within the School of Nursing in accordance with the candidate's experience.  Qualified candidates will:

  • Hold a Doctoral Degree in Nursing or a related science field
  • Have graduate-level teaching experience
