Kendal provides a unique option to older adults who seek a place of community and collaboration. As a not-for-profit, values-based organization, we live our mission in all aspects of our operations.
Company History
Kendal began in the late 1960s, when a committee of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) sought “a better way in retirement” based on Quaker values. The first community, Kendal at Longwood, opened in 1973. Since then, 12 communities in 9 states have either been developed as a Kendal Affiliate from the ground up or have chosen to become a Kendal Affiliate.
