Friendly Senior Living is seeking an experienced, compassionate Director of Social Work & Admissions to join our leadership team at Friendly Home.  This highly visible role leads the Social Work Department, oversees the full admissions process, and helps ensure that every Member and family receives responsive, person-directed support from initial inquiry through admission, care transitions, and discharge planning.

As a collaborative leader, you will guide a talented team, support census development and occupancy goals, maintain regulatory excellence, and help advance a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities

•       Lead the Social Work Department and supervise Social Workers, the Admissions Coordinator, and the Admissions/Social Work Assistant.
•       Direct the intake and admissions process, partnering with clinical colleagues to determine appropriate levels of care and ensure timely, responsive                follow-up.
•       Support census development, bed utilization, and occupancy goals in collaboration with leadership and Marketing.
•       Promote high-quality psychosocial assessments, care documentation, discharge planning, and use of community resources.
•       Help Members, families, and significant others navigate admission, adjustment, care transitions, disability, loss, and other complex experiences.
•       Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, Members’ rights, organizational policies, and required documentation standards.
•       Partner with Life Enrichment to support the Members’ Council and ensure Members have meaningful opportunities to participate and be heard.
•       Hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate departmental staff while providing hands-on support when needed.
•       Develop departmental goals, policies, procedures, education, and operating and capital budget recommendations.
•       Contribute as a member of senior leadership and the Quality Management Steering Committee, advancing service excellence across the organization.

Requirements

•       Master’s degree in Social Work.
•       Current New York State social work license (LMSW or LCSW).
•       At least one year of recent experience in gerontological social work practice.
•       Demonstrated leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
•       A reliable, collaborative, service-oriented approach and a genuine commitment to older adults.
•       Ability to fulfill the position’s scheduling, transportation, physical, and other employment requirements, with reasonable accommodation as applicable.
