Position Goal: To provide guidance to faculty, staff, and enrolled students during evening nursing program hours. The Evening Program Coordinator is responsible for the operational success of the evening program.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the hiring, training, and mentoring of program faculty.
2. Review curriculum regularly in collaboration with evening faculty; support evening faculty participation in Curriculum Committee meetings; and assure evening faculty recommendations are brought forward and resulting content is properly taught.
3. Provide administrative discipline and conflict resolution between program faculty and/or enrolled students.
4. Participate as an active member of campus committees as designated.
5. Facilitate standardized testing for all evening program students and provide feedback to faculty and Curriculum Committee regarding outcome data.
6. Collaborate with the appropriate campus administrators and departments in the development of class schedules, clinical site assignments, and assignment responsibilities for faculty, personally providing classroom instruction as needed.
7. Observe faculty and students in classroom and clinical learning laboratory settings to evaluate quality of instruction and/or learning environments and provide feedback to faculty regarding strengths and areas of improvement.
8. Evaluate adequacy of nursing program testing and student performance on the NCLEX® and share findings with faculty, with follow through plans for implementation of improvements.
9. Ensure students receive adequate academic counseling and referral assistance to available resources to support academic success.
10. Communicate with Dean and Program Director of student and faculty needs, issues, and concerns in a timely manner.
11. Participate in campus commencement ceremonies.
12. Participate in routine campus leadership meetings and other campus and system level meetings, as required.
13. Encourage faculty to participate in campus committees, and support faculty development in the rank and promotion process.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse
Education: Master of Nursing required plus three years of experience in teaching and/or a leadership position.
Special Qualifications: Registered Nurse licensed by applicable state, with a minimum of five years’ experience in nursing as an RN. Knowledge of curriculum and teaching methodology preferred. An inclusive, team-oriented management style that is respectful of existing organizational resources.
Degree of Supervision: Minimal.
