- Full Time Supervisory Recreational Therapist - Section Chief

The Clinical Center (CC) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research. The Clinical Research Center has 200 inpatient beds, 93 day- hospital stations and 15 outpatient clinics. Recreation Therapists at the Clinical Center are integral health care team members who provide and coordinate patient care in a research setting.
The Recreation Therapist Supervisory-Chief position is located in the Recreation Therapy Section of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) intervene in the disease process, improve health status, improve or maintain functional capacities and contribute to patient well-being. Recreation therapy interventions are provided to pediatric and adult populations.
The Recreation Therapy Supervisor provides leadership for Recreation Therapy Section delivering cutting edge therapeutic practices and procedures. The incumbent supervises staff in collaborative and independent goal directed clinical patient care and clinical research support activities. They will direct the implementation of section specific and departmental policies and procedures.
Incumbent will, in collaboration with the staff, identify performance standards by which they will be evaluated and assure reasonable equity of performance standards and rating of subordinates. The position will be responsible for effective utilization of resources. The position is administratively responsible for monitoring procurement and auditing processes associated with recreation therapy purchases and preparing reports and documentation of departmental activities.
The ideal candidate will be a Certified Recreation Therapist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification with 3 years of clinical experience and demonstrated supervisory leadership in the field.
